While some automakers are just beginning to enter the all-electric market, Nissan is moving forward rapidly. A vivid confirmation of this is the conceptual model IMs, shown at the Detroit Auto Show, held in January 2019.

The novelty is an elevated sports sedan with a futuristic appearance, an equally fantastic interior and high-performance technical stuffing.

But the most interesting thing is that today there is not a single car on the market made in a similar form factor, which means that the concept has every chance of becoming the founder of a new class of vehicles.

External appearance

From whatever side you look - the car meets with sharp edges and chopped shapes. The front end features narrow stripes of LED headlights, a large illuminated company logo in the center and an aerodynamic front bumper with a trapezoidal air intake.

The sweeping profile features a domed roof, massive wheel arches with quirky 22-inch rims, and large side doors devoid of the familiar handles.

The clumsy stern of the car sports a narrow strip of side lights, transparent Nissan lettering, a neat tailgate and an elegant rear bumper, complemented by a sporty diffuser.

External dimensions Nissan IMs Concept 2020:

Length, mm4845
Width, mm1900
Height, mm1500
Wheelbase length, mm2900

The manufacturer decided not to disclose information about the height of the ground clearance, but even with the naked eye it is noticeable that it fluctuates between 175-185 mm. The concept was presented in an elegant metallic gray paintwork, which favorably emphasizes all the curves and lines of the body.

Internal filling

The salon of Nissan IMs Concept is made according to the 2 + 1 + 2 formula, where the second row of seats is of the greatest interest. As standard, there is one Premier Seat with wide armrests, which makes it look like a royal throne. If necessary, the armrests can be raised, thereby obtaining a full-fledged three-seater sofa.

Front passengers are stylish seats with excellent lateral support and original headrests, which are equipped with spectacular LED lighting, a wide range of adjustments and various benefits of civilization.

When the autopilot is activated, the pedal assembly and the steering wheel move towards the dashboard, while the seats of the first row can be rotated 180 degrees, which allows you to communicate with the rear riders literally face to face.

The front dashboard is a realm of LCD displays that take up over 70% of the total area.

In front of the driver, the manufacturer placed the so-called double-layer monitor, consisting of the main and projection screen located above it. They display the main driving parameters, while the auxiliary information is displayed in the background.

The screen located to the left of the "instrument display" is responsible for displaying information about the air temperature, time and battery charge level, and on the right - for the multimedia and information component.

Special attention should be paid to the futuristic steering wheel made in the form of the steering wheel of a spaceship, which you have repeatedly seen in Hollywood fiction.

Behind the second row of seats there is a luggage compartment, the exact volume of which, unfortunately, the manufacturer did not want to name.

The concept car is driven by two electric motors, one of which is located on the front axle, and the other on the rear axle. Their total power reaches 490 "horses", and the torque is 800 Nm, distributed between both axles.

The electric motors are powered by a traction battery with a capacity of 115 kW / h located under the floor. The manufacturer claims that the conceptual Nissan IMs can cover up to 612 km on a single charge, but the dynamic characteristics of the new items were not disclosed.

It is also known that the car received air suspension, as well as a high-performance braking system, represented by ventilated discs on both axles.

Price and equipment Nissan IMs Concept 2019

Since Nissan IMs is a concept model, there is no market value to speak of. Wherein the partial filling of the car is known, which includes:

  • airbags in a circle;
  • three LCD displays located on the front dashboard;
  • all-round visibility cameras;
  • parking sensors;
  • a wide range of security systems;
  • autopilot;
  • wheel disks R22;
  • LED optics front and rear;
  • intelligent cruise control;
  • climate control;
  • branded navigation and much more.

It is also worth noting that when the autopilot is activated, the external optics change their glow to blue, and additional identification lights light up in the center of the stern and the front of the body, notifying the outside world that the car is currently being controlled by electronics.

Conclusion

Nissan IMs Concept is a bright and memorable concept that has every chance of getting on the conveyor in the very near future. But even if this does not happen, some of his solutions will certainly migrate into the existing serial models of the company.
