Suzuki has unveiled its new Swift hatchback in Japan, and it will be available here in early January 2017. Let's talk about the characteristics and parameters of the new item.
Renowned car manufacturer Suzuki has recently unveiled the new Swift hatchback in Japan. The novelty will go to Japanese car dealerships in early January 2017. The new Swift will be shown globally in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
For Suzuki, the Swift is an important model. According to statistics, since 2004, more than 5.3 million vehicles of this model have been sold. The popularity of Swift is so great that the manufacturer did not radically change the design, and tried to keep the dimensions as much as possible. New Japanese Suzuki Swift of the following dimensions:
- length - 3840 mm .;
- width - 1695 mm .;
- height - 1500 mm .;
- wheelbase - 2450 mm.
Compared with the previous model, the new Suzuki Swift has become 10 mm shorter and lower, but the distance between the front and rear axles has increased by 20 mm. The curb weight of the novelty, depending on the configuration, will be 860-960 kg. For the front-wheel drive Swift, the ground clearance will be 120 mm, and the all-wheel drive version is 145 mm.
At home in Japan, the new Suzuki Swift will be equipped with three different engines. The first and most initial will be the naturally aspirated gasoline Dualjet. The volume is 1.2 liters, while it can produce 91 hp, and the maximum torque is 118 Nm. It will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission or CVT. The second variant of the Swift is a hybrid, in the price list it will be indicated as a Smart Hybrid Vehicle. The engine is the same gasoline engine with a volume of 1.2 liters, which is paired with a 2.3 kW electric motor. Unfortunately or fortunately for the buyer, only a CVT will be installed in a pair to the hybrid engine. The first and second configurations of the Swift can be either front or all-wheel drive.
The more expensive Swift RSt trim received a turbocharged three-cylinder Boosterjet engine. The volume of the unit is 1 liter, but the power is 102 horses with a maximum torque of 150 Nm. Only a six-speed automatic transmission will be installed in a pair.
The safety of the new Suzuki Swift is good enough. Engineers have included seven airbags, ESP and ABS systems. Front optics and LED daytime running lights. There is a rear-view camera behind the car, there is also an additional safety package, it includes a lane tracking system. In the previous model, this is not found in the basic configuration.
Optionally, the new Suzuki Swift can be equipped with keyless entry and engine start from the button. The novelty can be upgraded to 16 ″ branded alloy wheels by adding a sports body kit. On a pleasant note, electric side mirrors, cruise control, heated front seats, a multimedia system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be noted.
