Even if a potential buyer has never heard the name of Peter Schreier, he will definitely say that he has a Korean-made car in front of him. And it will be right, because in the last 8 years (the update began back in 2009) Korean automakers have taken a huge step a couple of miles in terms of design. Maybe in other directions they did not succeed so much, but in this for sure.

Now we are talking exclusively about design, and before us is the nose of a tiger with a cunning squint of xenon headlights, lighting equipment in general of a complex design, this is indicated by the daytime running lights inside the head optics. There is also a muscular hood, and the bumper, depending on the color of the car and the lighting, just seems to be chrome-plated. Looks really expensive and stylish. And this is a huge plus for a minivan.
A little below, there are lensed foglights installed, as well as a stainless steel or aluminum bump stop, so you won't immediately understand. In terms of ground clearance, the 2016 Kia Carnival's clearance is 170 millimeters. This is enough to get around the freeways. I would also like to note a partial resemblance to the Kia Sorrento Prime, this is logical, but here it looks more solid, just more beautiful.
The profile of the new Kia Carnival underlines its size. The length of the minivan is 5.11 meters, and there are some lines along the entire side part. I must say that there is no perception of any one of them, there is a perception of the full picture, which the designers managed to fully reveal. This also applies to the chrome trim on the top, and the rising glass line on the tailgate, and quite massive arches. The last time such a challenge in its class was made by the Toyota Alphard 3, which was really good.
Everything is different here. The same Alphard looks like a minivan, like a family car, like a minibus for long family trips and large companies. You cannot sit in it and go to work, calmly move around the city. Everything is different here. It is not clear how, but the designers managed, on the one hand, to emphasize the huge dimensions of the model, and on the other hand, to hide them, and even now the new Carnival does not look such a giant. It's just a big crossover, no larger than the Highlander, although the latter is almost 30 cm shorter. The model class issues only the passenger door opening mechanism.
The back of the 2016 Kia Carnival has nothing to do with a clumsy family car at all. Hence, it is also a large-sized crossover that attracts attention with stylish, strict forms, a massive bumper and just a huge rear door, into which, as it seems, an elephant will easily enter on its own. By the way, small LED lights are not like a “cow's saddle”, but very useful.

This is a car for everyday use, not necessarily for long distances. Simple to use. The same Grand Hiace cannot boast of such versatility.
Next, let's look at the design, thank God, the Koreans are fine with that. The instrument panel is classic, with large deep wells for the tachometer and speedometer. Between them is the on-board computer display. Nothing superfluous, but everything is in abundance. It is easy to guess from the buttons on the steering wheel that hands free is on here, and the start button gives out a keyless entry system into the car. In addition, there is stock navigation, a huge number of USB ports, and there is even a 115 volt socket.
The dashboard has almost only horizontal lines, which visually makes the interior even wider. There are two glove compartments on the right side of the panel, one of which is cooled. Just below the navigation and multimedia display, a climate control unit is installed, which is three-zone here. This is logical. Because even two zones here will definitely be small, given the length of the cabin.
A large central armrest is inserted between the front seats, in which, if desired, you can hide a nuclear submarine. In general, there is nothing superfluous in front, but no one will use the lack of functions either.
Since this is a car for travel and for family trips, or trips by large companies, I would like to note how subtly the manufacturer approached the comfort of the second and third row. First of all, this concerns the second. There are two separate chairs, there is a ton of space between them, and they are also equipped with adjustments in the longitudinal direction, backrest tilt, there is even a footrest. To get into the third row, the second folds into a clever system that provides free access. Well, now about the cargo. So, in the normal state of the third row, 350 liters of cargo will fit in the trunk. If you remove the third row and fold the second, you can get 3.3 cubic meters of usable space. It's just a giant.
