In 2017, the Fiat lineup was expanded with the new compact Fiat Argo hatchback. Initially, the car was developed for the South American market, but very soon the car should appear in Europe, where it will most likely be presented under a completely different name.

Fiat representatives note that they put extremely high hopes on the new product, which replaced two models at once - "Punto" and "Palio", and have already managed to award it with a large number of flattering epithets. Indeed, the car has a stylish and perky appearance, a high-quality and roomy interior, as well as good dynamic characteristics and an impressive size list of basic and optional equipment.

Fiat Argo exterior

The new Fiat Argo received a spectacular, dynamic and attractive appearance, echoing the appearance of the "big brother" in the model range - Fiat Tipo.

Frontal part of the body is represented by a complex head optics, a neat grille, a raised hood and a stylish bumper, represented by a wide section of the air intake and a pair of built-in round fog lights.

Hatchback profile demonstrates the classic 2-volume proportions, as well as a collected and knocked down silhouette, attracting the eye with a compact hood, heavily piled back A-pillars, massive "splashes" on the sidewalls and an almost domed roof.

I would also like to highlight the presence of circular wheel arches, in which wheels with a diameter of 14 to 16 inches can be installed.

Despite its general simplicity, the rear of the car received a number of design elements: drop-shaped side lights, an impressive Fiat lettering located in the center of the tailgate, a massive spoiler and a raised rear bumper with aerodynamic elements and fog lights boomerangs.

And in more expensive versions, the rear bumper is complemented by a diffuser and an impressive size trim on the exhaust pipe, made in the shape of a trapezoid.

External dimensions of the novelty:

Fiat Argo rises above the roadway (see table) by 154 mm, which is a good indicator for a car of this class.

Note that, like other Fiat models, the new product offers a wide range of body colors and several options for rims.

The interior of the new Fiat Argo

It is worth paying tribute to the Italian designers who managed to create a truly stylish, modern and attractive front panel, where not only high-quality finishing materials are available, but also a high level of ergonomics.

The driver's seat is represented by a stylish instrument cluster complemented by a 3.5-inch LCD display, as well as an attractive multifunction steering wheel with a slightly cut lower rim.

Center of the front panel, somewhat reminiscent of that in the Mercedes A-class, is represented by a large "TV" of the multimedia center, three round air duct deflectors and an originally designed interior climate control unit. Slightly below is a small "lip" on which the manufacturer has placed a cup holder, a gearbox selector, as well as USB and AUX connectors.

As in the case of the Fiat 500 model, buyers of the new Fiat Argo have ample opportunities to personalize the interior, which will certainly become another trump card in the sleeve of the novelty.

According to the manufacturer, the Fiat Argo is equipped with a 5-seater cabin, but in practice, only 4 people will be able to sit as comfortably as possible: a driver and three passengers.

Front riders comfortable chairs with a sufficient range of adjustments, well-felt lateral support and a small armrest are offered.

In the same time rear riders a sofa with three separate headrests is offered, on which, however, only two adult riders can sit with maximum comfort.

Trunk volume is 300 liters, which is an order of magnitude more than the Fiat Fiesta. Moreover, its volume can be increased by folding the backs of the rear sofa. In the underground luggage compartment there is a small repair kit and a compact spare wheel.

It is known that the car is based on a front-wheel-drive platform of a budget class, represented by an independent front suspension and a semi-independent rear suspension, which received MacPherson struts and a torsion beam, respectively. The steering received an electric booster, and the deceleration system received front disc and rear drum brakes.

Powertrain line represented by two new type engines capable of operating both on gasoline and the standard, as well as one old one, well known from other models of the Fiat automaker:

1. Three-cylinder 1-liter petrol engine, generating 72 "horses" and 104 Nm of thrust when driving on gasoline, and 77 liters. with. (109 Nm) - when driving on ethanol. Such an engine is paired with a 5-speed "mechanics", which promises good dynamics and efficiency.
2. 1.3-liter 4-cylinder, capable of squeezing 101 "horses" (137 Nm) or 109 liters. (142 Nm) when using gasoline and ethanol, respectively. This power unit can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a modern "robot" with push-button switching. The dynamic characteristics, unfortunately, have not been officially announced.
3. The most powerful and well-known 1.8-liter E.torQ gasoline engine, capable of delivering a peak of 101 hp. and 187 Nm of traction on gasoline and 139 liters. with 192 Nm of torque - running on ethanol. This motor is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed "automatic" to choose from. According to Fiat's management, acceleration from 0 to 100 is carried out with it in 9 seconds, and the maximum speed is fixed at around 192 km / h. Unfortunately, the information about fuel consumption was not announced.

Security systems of the new Fiat Argo

An impressive list of safety systems has been announced for the new Fiat Argo 2019, which includes:

Depending on the version and type of pre-installed engine, the price of a new Fiat Argo on the Brazilian market ranges from 468-706 thousand Brazilian reais, which in translation into domestic currency is about 807 thousand - 1.218 million rubles.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known exactly when the car will reach the countries of the Old World, and it is not clear whether the new product will be presented on the Russian market.

The special version "HGT" stands apart, which has a more sporty and charismatic appearance, as well as:

• Low profile tires and other equipment.

It is also worth noting that Mopar offers more than 50 branded accessories for Fiat Argo, which have been specially developed specifically for this model. Among them: advanced acoustics, original interior lighting, parking assistants and an advanced multimedia system.

Conclusion

Fiat Argo is a dynamic, modern and well-equipped car, moreover, for relatively little money, which has all the chances to get a noticeable volume of sales in the European market, despite the presence of a large number of equally interesting and technologically advanced competitors.
