Cars of the SUV segment, they are also crossovers, SUVs and SUVs, are becoming more and more popular. One such example is the relatively inexpensive Renault Duster. Not so long ago, the manufacturer presented an updated crossover, but he could not get to the territory of Russia. Now the production of the updated crossover has been set up at a plant in Moscow. The information about the start of production of the second generation Renault Duster was officially confirmed by the representatives of the company.

According to available data, in the future, the Renault company in Russia wants to be completely transferred to the CMF-B platform, which means that all copies that come off the assembly line in the Russian Federation will be completely electric. It is still hard to say, in the same way as to present a picture of the production of electric cars in Russia, but there is already such a plan until 2025. As many people know, Dacia and Renault are essentially the same cars, only with different nameplates. The second generation Renault Duster is a similar copy of the Romanian Dacia Duster, which debuted back in 2017.

Many say that the second generation Renault Duster is halfway through its life and in the near future they want to develop a third generation of the crossover, which will be based on the modern CMF-B platform. In Russia, Renault Group is working in tandem with AvtoVAZ, the same platform can be used for the new Lada Niva, which is planned to be presented in 2024. By about 2025, Lada plans to bring to the market a compact C-class crossover, it should also be similar to the Dacia Bigster.

Now about the second generation Renault Duster for Russia. The novelty is based on the GA (Global Access) platform. Previously, this platform was used in Russia for the Kaptur and Arkana crossovers, but the manufacturer had to spend money on body assembly in Russia. In particular, this is the assembly of the side of the crossover. For this, a separate line was set up by installing welding robots, transporters and robots that are responsible for changing parts for assembly. According to the representatives of the company, manual work has become an order of magnitude less, respectively, the cost of assembling the car and possible errors are also less.

There is no official statement on the technical characteristics of the new Renault Duster for Russia yet, the manufacturer simply decided not to disclose this information yet. Still, it can be assumed that many of the characteristics will come from Renault Arcana. Yet, most likely, the new Duster will not inherit the diesel unit. The top equipment will most likely receive a dashboard from Arcana, four-wheel drive and a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a capacity of 150 horses.

Following the units and the drive, the novelty may get a variator. The main question remains in the manual transmission, whether it will exist and what the design of the manual transmission will be (long or short gears). As for the pricing policy of the new Renault Duster in Russia, the prices are likely to rise. As a result, this may affect the demand for the first generation Renault Duster. For 2020, 31,640 copies of this crossover were sold, which is 19% less than in 2019.
