The Detroit Auto Show brought a lot of new products to the automotive market, many of them became production copies and will appear in dealerships in the near future. It has been rumored for over two years that the Japanese manufacturer is planning to revive the legendary Toyota Supra. We have already reviewed the pre-production version of the Supra without camouflage in the article, but now we will consider the official version.
As it became known, the well-known division of GAZOO Racing was engaged in the development of design and characteristics. The production version is based on the same platform as for the new BMW Z4, including the engineers installed components and assemblies from the BMW Z4.

Like the previous generation, the new Toyota Supra received rear-wheel drive, the engine is located in the front, and the interior is still designed for two seats. Under the hood of the sports car, the same units are installed as in BMW, in particular a gasoline turbocharged six with a volume of 3.0 liters and a capacity of 335 horses (torque 495 Nm). The Toyota Supra unit will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with the ability to shift gears using the paddles behind the steering wheel.
To the first 100 km / h on the speedometer, Toyota Supra can accelerate in 4.3 seconds. As a result of this acceleration, the novelty immediately became the fastest production model of this brand. As for the maximum speed, its engineers forcibly limited it to 250 km / h. For the convenience of passengers, the suspension of the new Toyota GR Supra is adaptive, with an active rear differential and the ability to lock it at 100%.
Following the suspension, the Toyota Supra braking system was modified, the engineers installed 4-piston Brembo brakes, modern launch control, as well as normal and sport modes, electronically controlled. To further enhance the exterior, the optics of the new Toyota Supra are all-LED. Inside, the designers added an 8.8 ″ touchscreen display for the multimedia system, wireless charging for gadgets, a 12-speaker audio system, a large head-up display and 19 ″ alloy wheels and Michelin tires.
In addition to the characteristics and parameters, the manufacturer has revealed the price of the new Toyota Supra. In the American market, and it is here that the first sales start in the spring of 2019, the new sports car will cost from $ 49990, top-end equipment from $ 58905... In Europe, the new Toyota Supra GR will appear at the end of summer 2019. It should be noted right away that a limited batch of the Supra 900 series will be sold in Europe, the number of copies has not yet been specified.
