BMW has unveiled not only a new hybrid model 330e, but also a new group called iPerformance. We will tell you about the parameters and characteristics of the new model, features and photos.
In 1986, the "e" markings on BMW 3-Series models were not very successful, they were slow and not particularly economical cars. In North America, the 325e was powered by a 2.7 liter diesel engine from 1984 to 1987. and a maximum torque of 4700 rpm.
But nowadays, the picture for such marking of BMW cars has completely changed, and the presence of an "e" indicates a plug-in-hybrid system under the hood. It started with the i3 hatch and the sporty i8. BMW has now merged all vehicles marked "e" or "i" into the new iPerformance range.
According to BMW, the new 330e is capable of driving 35.4 km on a single electric charge, but on the test the car showed only 22.53 km, which is similar to the performance of the BMW X5 xDrive40e. Similar to the SUV, the new 330e features a 2L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The BMW electric motor (or, as they say, the generator) is capable of delivering 87 hp. and 101 Nm of torque. A 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery is located in the trunk. The BMW 330e is charged from the 240V mains to full charge in 2.5 hours, and at 120V the charge will take from 6 to 7 hours. Although these are not residuals in terms of economy, the BMW 330e has a gross power output of 248 horsepower and a maximum torque of 421 Nm. Power increased by 8 hp. and 71 Nm of torque compared to the 328i. But comparing the BMW 330e to the X5, the power has dropped by 60 hp. and 30 Nm, this is because the BMW 330e took a 2 liter engine. 180 hp from the 320i, not the 240 horsepower from the 328i. The four-wheel drive car is not planned to be released.
The savings and the distance the BMW 330e can travel will depend a lot on the features you use. Most of all the energy will be eaten by the GPS system and climate control, on average, the distance traveled will be halved. But the new transmission gives the choice of driving modes Auto eDrive, Save Battery and Max eDrive. Each mode is responsible for both an economic ride and a sporty one. In Max eDrive mode, the top speed is 120 km / h.
At a cost of the new BMW 330e will cost about $ 44,695, and sales will start this summer. A navigation system, climate control and cruise control will be included as standard. The new BMW iPerformance family promises to be spirited and very economical, which for many is now the main thing when buying a plug-in-hybrid car.
